The Center's mission is to give visitors the opportunity to learn about, view, and ultimately appreciate grizzlies and wolves. It therefore strives to bring information about grizzlies, wolves, and other wildlife and wild land issues to the public in a stimulating way.

Appreciate the Grizzly in a stimulating way.

GRIZZLIES IN THEIR OUTDOOR HABITAT

At the Grizzly Discovery Center, you may at any time see one to four grizzlies in the outdoor bear habitat. The habitat features two ponds, a flowing stream, lodgepole pines, and boulders. Individual animals wander outdoors on a schedule that is random regarding the amount of time, time of day, and combination of animals. The result is a vital life for the animals and more interest for visitors.

The Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center's "Gallatin Pack" is comprised of four wolves forming a hierarchy typical of packs in the wild. The wolves use their outdoor habitat - grassy areas, trees, pond, waterfall and lookout mound -throughout the day.

A vital life for the animals and more interest for visitors.

THE GRIZZLY DISCOVERY CENTER - A BEAR'S SECOND CHANCE

Several enrichment activities take place throughout the day for both the bears and wolves. An Information Specialist interprets these activities for guests and answers questions.

Grizzly bears that are unable to live in the wild have a second chance at the Grizzly Discovery Center. By helping with the education of visitors, the Center's animals may help other bears and wolves remain in the wild.

The greatest threat to grizzlies and wolves is the loss of desirable, life-sustaining areas to raise their families. Wilderness is not a renewable resource. If it is possible for humans and wildlife to co-exist, we must endeavor to know as much about their needs to minimize the negative impacts of our environment.

Helping other Grizzlies remain successfully in the wild.
