Overview
With its six-story-tall movie screen and 12,000-watt surround sound system, the Yellowstone IMAX Theater – located right next to the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park – offers one of the visually beautiful and exciting ways to learn about Yellowstone Country.

The must-see feature attraction, "Yellowstone," written and directed by Academy Award-winner Keith Merrill, offers an eye-popping introduction to the wildlife, geology and one-of-a-kind majesty of the region. From its snow-clad summits to its quietest, most secluded corners – from the roar of waterfalls to the trickle of the hot springs that continue to create the weird and wonderful landscape – "Yellowstone" presents this wild corner of the world as most of us are never likely to experience it.

The film also tells the fascinating history of the world's first national park – from the origins of this geologic hotbed and the ways of it earliest Native American inhabitants, through early explorers such as John Colter and the Washburn Expedition – with displays in the theater lobby offering additional insight into this one-of-a-kind landscape.
