Located just south of Big Sky, Montana is Yellowstone National Park.  The park has nearly three million visitors to enter its gates each year, entering a land that was set-aside in 1872 by President Ulysses S. Grant as our nation's and world's first nation park.  Yellowstone was declared a land that was "for the benefit and enjoyment of the people", but many will find in their travels to the park that Yellowstone is dedicated to its wild inhabitants, and that the people who visit are peering into their world. more info

There are a number of ways to experience Yellowstone National Park, and national park tours provide a greater sense of appreciation in knowledge of this magical land.  Several options on tours are available such as self-guided audio tours, organized tours, Yellowstone Lake scenicruiser tours, guided horseback trail ride tours, and Ranger-led educational programs.  There are also a number of private and specialized tours that can be arranged from several lodging and ranch facilities in the Big Sky area.

Self-guided car audio tours are simple.  Just rent an audio player that plugs into your vehicle's cigarette lighter and plays through your FM radio, sit back and listen as prerecorded messages describe park routes and attractions and provide historical and environmental information.  Organized tours are provided by a number of bus tour companies and offer very informative national park tours.  But the most beneficial and memorable tour would be national park tours offered by the Ranger-program.  These programs will significantly enhance a visitor's understanding of the history, culture and wildlife in the area in which they are traveling.
