Local rafting companies offer a variety of river trips, including combination rafting/horseback riding trips, half-day, and full-day scenic floats.  Rates for a guided trip vary depending on season, and range from $50 to $107 per adult. Wetsuits, canoe and small paddle rafts are also available for those wishing to paddle flatwater sections of Yellowstone River. 

Hire a Guide

Although you may be able to rent a boat and oars, considering a guided float trip is strongly recommended.  River conditions can change, depending on season and location.   Float trips with a guide are not only the safest option, but provide an opportunity to leisurely learn about the history, geology, flora and fauna of the area, while drifting by it. Guides are good resources of information and are usually full of fascinating local stories, legends, and jokes. Tap into their knowledge and ask about anything you find curious.
